Steps to follow for International learners coming to McMaster for a visiting elective
Step 1
Contact program to request an elective
The international learner is responsible to reach out to the program and request an elective.
Step 2
Complete the international electives application form
PGME requirements should be started at least six months prior to the elective’s proposed start-date. Failure to complete the requirements within this timeline may result in a delayed start-date.
Step 3
Obtaining a College of Physicians & Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO) license
Candidates must be eligible for a license with the CPSO, the body that regulates the practice of medicine in Ontario.
Step 4
Work Permit Application
Learners must have a work permit that is valid for the duration of their elective.
Step 5
McMaster Health Screening Record
The health screening record must be submitted at least eight weeks prior to the scheduled elective.
