PGME MiniMAD Event – Platters and Splatters
The PGME Multidisciplinary Academic Day (MAD) Committee hosted a MiniMAD Event – Platters and Splatters on November 19. Dr. Marisa Azad MD, PhD instructed the group in a painting project. Attendees were provided with the materials to paint a landscape.
Dr. Azad, formally an undergraduate medical student and internal medicine resident at McMaster University, is now enrolled at the University of Ottawa in the Infectious Diseases program. She moved the group with her stories of loss and images of her exceptional and realistic works that she created for grieving families. These pieces are personalized and contain symbols that represent loved ones who have recently passed. She is a dynamic speaker, talented artist and patient teacher. For more information on Dr. Azad and the ARTICU Project for which she is lead researcher, visit her website at http://www.marisaazad.com/
The PGME committee would like to thank Dr. Azad and the learners who joined us for the event. We were impressed by the the artistic talents of our colleagues from all the various specialties and subspecialties.
