Elective Registration

Learners on electives will be permitted to register when all requirements as detailed in the application process are complete and confirmed.

Once all the supporting documents have been submitted, the learner will be set up with a MedSIS profile. Once logged in the learner is required to:

  1. Complete the registration form
  2. Enter scrub size
  3. Complete e-modules through MedPortal (learners receive an email with login information)
  4. Upload health screening records to Health Screening Office

On the learner’s first day at McMaster they must register in person with the PGME office.  At registration they will be provided with a McMaster Photo ID and directions on hospital services (including dictation, IT, scrubs, and parking).

Once all the supporting documents have been submitted, the learner will be set up with a MedSIS profile. Once logged in the learner must:

  1. Letter of Appointment (LOA) – please read for accuracy and then sign LOA and it will automatically upload to CPSO; who requires a copy to support your license application
  2. Complete the registration form
  3. Enter scrub size
  4. Complete e-modules through MedPortal (learners receive login information)
  5. Upload health screening records to Health Screening Office

Alerts in MedSIS will show for CPSO and CMPA. Please ensure you apply for these items at least 8 weeks before your elective as they are lengthy processes.

  6. Payment – Associated costs must be paid prior to starting the elective. Once payed, you will be able to print a receipt
