Discover Hamilton

Once defined by the heavy industry that dominated the area, Hamilton has transformed itself from the “Steel City” to a education and healthcare center. Hamilton is the ninth largest city in Canada, fourth largest in Ontario, and ranked as one of the top ten places to do business in Canada. Situated on the Niagara escarpment, Hamilton is only 45 minutes from Toronto, the U.S. border and the Niagara and Waterloo Regional campuses.

From the urban experience of the downtown and its growing art, entertainment and food scene to the quite communities that tie their residents, Hamilton has attracted young professionals looking for big city amenities but desiring the charm that a smaller city brings.

I moved to the Locke street area and have enjoyed the ability to walk to restaurants and cafes, while always feeling safe. I like that I’m close enough to Toronto to go in after work for Raptors games, but can also be at a golf course or a beautiful hike within a ten minute drive.

There is a clear preservation of Hamilton’s natural resources from the water front to parks to our famous waterfalls. I have found it to be a balanced, accessible city that I think will just continue to elevate as a place to live and work.

I am new to the Hamilton area and fell in love with the quaint town of Dundas and the restaurants within Hamilton and the surrounding area. I have also enjoyed being along the escarpment and the various trails and waterfalls. Hamilton is truly a beautiful place with a lot of character.
