Observerships

Obserserverships are an excellent learning opportunity to gain valuable knowledge about the practice of medicine and healthcare in a Canadian hospital. You can review the CPSO policy on observerships.

Since observerships are not recognized training, the PGME office is not involved in these arrangements. Medical practitioners must apply directly to the departmental office of the specialty in which they wish to have observer status. Arrangements for observerships can be made through Hamilton’s two teaching hospitals; Hamilton Health Sciences and St. Joseph’s Healthcare.

To qualify for an oberservership, you must be a practicing healthcare practitioner. There are other criteria in order to meet the eligibility requirements so please refer to the Observership Policy  with Medical Affairs Credentials at the teaching hospital of your choice or contact the Medical Affairs Office at 905-521-2100 ext. 72340 or credentials@hhsc.ca
