Equity, Diversity, Inclusion & Indigenous Health Equity Speaker Series
The Office of Faculty Affairs invites all faculty, staff and learners to attend the upcoming Equity, Diversity, Inclusion (EDI) and Indigenous Health Equity Speaker Series. The EDI and Indigenous Health Equity Speaker Series aims to engage audience groups in education sessions on a variety of topics relating to EDI and Indigenous Peoples in a safe, interprofessional virtual space. The Fall 2021 Speaker Series will focus on 2SLGBTQIA+ Positive Spaces and Care.
October Sessions
Building 2SLGBTQIA+ Positive Spaces 101 – October 7, 2021 at 8:00 – 10:00 a.m.
Creating inclusive, support, positive spaces for2SLGBTQIA staff, faculty and students on campus requires intentional work. In this session, participants will increase their awareness about the lives and experiences of 2SLGBTQ+ persons.

Building 2SLGBTQIA+ Positive Spaces 201 – October 19, 2021 at 5:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Creating inclusive, supportive, positive spaces for2SLGBTQIA+ staff, faculty and students on campus requires intentional work. In this intermediate session, participants will build upon their foundational awareness about the lives and experiences of 2SLGBTQIA+ persons to discuss tangible ways to become an effective ally. This session is intended for individuals that are familiar with terms such as heteronormativity, transphobia, cisnormativity and bi-erasure.

Providing 2SLGBTQIA+ Healthcare: A Panel Discussion
This panel style webinar will explore the topic of providing safe and equitable health care for transgender and gender diverse people. Expert panelists will provide insight on how to promote safety and wellness in health care and examine the role of health professionals in providing safe care. Participants will learn strategies to bring quality care to 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, and how to create inclusive environments within their clinical practice.

Drawing on examples from research, community organizing and frontline practice, this session will share knowledge aimed at informing individual and collective efforts to ensure culturally safe access to healthcare and provide a better understanding of health issues for Two-Spirit and Indigenous LGBTQIA+.
