  • All PGME Registration requirements should be completed by May 31, 2024 for the new 2024-2025 academic year.
  • Not completing the steps below, before the new academic year begins, will cause an interruption in your training and pay.
  • All licenses and certificates must be renewed annually.
  • If you are a new to McMaster PGME training then you are on the wrong site. Email your PGME registration contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

Registration Fees must be paid annually in full regardless of when the trainee begins/ends their training, in order to be registered for the academic year (July1-June 30). A learner is eligible to request a pro-rated refund of their Registration Fee in their final year, if their training ends before the end of the academic year (June 30). Pro-rated refunds will only be considered upon request & refunded upon approval by the PGME office.

How to request a refund:
Learners must carefully read the directions and submit the online request form, found here: https://pgme.mcmaster.ca/train/forms/resident-registration-rebate-form/.

Learners must read the Leaves from the Program policy and complete the Leave Request Form, which is available on the policies section of our PGME website.

Learners who have taken a leave of absence during their training may wish to request a waiver of training in their final year of training. Learners should read the Waiver of Training policy (found under the Leaves, Part-Time Training & Transfers heading 2nd policy under heading) before contacting their Program Director to request a waiver of training.

Trainees that work on statutory holidays, in this case July 1st, are entitled to a day in lieu.

If unused for within 90 days, your security and scrubs access may be deactivated. Contact your  PGME registration contact at pgmeres@mcmaster.ca or pgmefell@mcmaster.ca and ask that your access be reactivated. Please identify which  hospital site(s) you require access to.

In the case of a damaged/lost badge, Learners should contact the PGME Office (MDCL 3101A) to arrange for a new badge. Currently you must make an appointment with the PGME office ahead of time. Regular business hours are Mon-Thursday  8:00 am – 4:00 pm and Virtual Office on Friday 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. There is a $10 charge for replacing a lost badge, payable by cash or cheque only. There is no charge for replacing a damaged badge.

Learners who have changed their address and/or phone number must update their new address in MedSIS. You can update your MedSIS profile by logging into your account and updating this section under your contact information. The PGME office requires your current address and phone number. Don’t forget to update the CPSO and CMPA when your mailing address changes.

If you are setup on McMaster or HHS payroll, you must also contact HR Services to update your mailing address.

For changes to your banking or beneficiary information, you will need to contact your paymaster  (the office or department who pays you). For Ministry of Health funded learners, please contact HR Services (myhr@hhsc.ca).

Citrix accounts are deactivated automatically after several months of inactivity. Contact the PGME office to request that your computer access be reactivated. Please note that it can take several days for your Citrix account to be reactivated, therefore reactivation requests need to be initiated at least 2 weeks ahead of time. The PGME office must contact the Computer Access Management (CAM) office to have your login information reset/reactivated.

To access the Health Sciences Library services in the Health Sciences Centre you will need to present your McMaster Student card that was provided to you when you first entered PGME training at McMaster. You would also activate your MacID at that time and this will allow you to access online resources.

I lost my McMaster University student card, how do I request a new one? Learners must visit the Office of the Registrar to obtain a replacement student card. They will charge a $30 replacement fee.
